Mini Cooper Rally
We may be a couple months off from the official start of Virginia Wine Month , but that certainly isn't going to stop one area winery from inviting you to celebrate early.
This Saturday, Aug. 23, Cooper Vineyards , located just 50 miles west of Richmond in Louisa, is inviting residents to step outside the city limits for a wine-tasting, delicious food and live music.
The 5th annual Mini Cooper Rally will bring wine and Mini-lovers together as one big happy, fun-loving family this weekend to celebrate the coming of harvest month for Virginia wines and, the iconic mini-coop.
Cooper Vineyards opened as a winery in 1998 and currently boasts 150 acres. The first vines were planted in 1999.
"We produce about 5,000 cases of wine a year and grow several different varieties of red and white," said Amy Stambaugh , tasting room manager for Cooper Vineyards.
"We grow Norton here and we also received two gold medals this year for our Petite Verdot, one in the Virginia Governor's Cup and one in the State Fair."
In addition to the Norton and Petite Verdot, Cooper will be hosting ten other of their own wines and sharing the tasting field with local winery, James River Cellars . Food vendors and live entertainment will also be on site to keep the party going.
In addition to fine wine tasting, Mini Cooper owners (or lovers) will have the opportunity to explore various models and colors through the support of the local Mini Cooper dealer, Crown Mini. The cars will be lined around the festive vineyard grounds.
