There's nothing any reporter worth his / her salt hates more than being scooped. There's just something competitive in our nature, so I suppose it comes with the territory.

And this week there was a big scoop on the Richmond restaurant scene. And, sadly for me, it went to Style Weekly . But the news is big enough that it's worth mentioning (and even, begrudgingly, giving a little credit to the source).

According to this week's edition of SW , Infuzion , Richmond's favorite ice bar, abruptly closed its doors last week due to nonpayment of rent. The property owner is looking to sell the restaurant, ice bar and all, according to SW . Phone calls to Infuzion were unanswered.

If you're looking to check out some of Shockoe Slip's coolest restaurants and to participate in a good cause then check out the Third Annual Gilbane Restaurant Walk to benefit the Hospital Hospitality House of Richmond. The event is a fun-filled evening / bar crawl / taste test of favorite Shockoe favorites like Cha Cha's Cantina, The Lucky Buddha , Stool Pigeons and The Tobacco Company .

For just $30 you get admission to the event, a t-shirt, pint glass, tote bag and all-you-can-eat at a buffet at each of the stops. The event is this Friday, Aug. 22 from 5 to 9 p.m. For more information, or to purchase tickets, call John Taylor (804) 643-2180.

But if want to sample a lot of food without all the walking then check out the Beer Dinner at Avenue 805 this   Sunday, Aug. 24 at 6:30 p.m. Williamsburg AleWerks and Brewmaster Geoff are hosting the five-course / six beer dinner. The courses include, Washington's Porter paired with house-ground sirloin sliders; Red Marker Ale with chicken, shrimp and chorizo gumbo; Colonial Wheat Ale with marinated chicken, pineapple and bell pepper skewers; and Chesapeake Pale Ale with baby back ribs. The price is $39 per person, excluding tax and gratuity. Call (804) 353-2505 for reservations.

Finally, the Southside's The Fondue Fanatic is hosting "Notte di Amore," Wine & Dine Romance Night, on Tuesday, Sept. 9. For $50 per a couple you get a three-course fondue dinner for two, including a bottle of Italian wine. Call (804) 423-6783 for reservations or more information.
