Christian Children's Fund recognizes it's major donors
The Christian Children's Fund recognized it's major donors last night at its "Champions for Children" honoree and major donor reception. The following were recognized:
Mr. and Mrs. J. Glen Baker from Richmond -- The Bakers have been supporting CCF since 1997. They have provided significant contributions during major emergencies like the Asia Tsunami for children's greatest needs.
Mr. and Mrs. Lewis T. Booker from Richmond -- The Bookers have been supporting CCF since 1973. Lewis is currently a CCF board member and served pro bono as CCF legal counsel. In 2005, CCF nominated Lewis, and he won, the Richmond Association of Fundraising Professionals Volunteer of the Year.
Mr. and Mrs. Harwood Cochrane from Richmond -- The Cochranes have been supporting CCF since 1972 contributing to CCF appeals for emergency needs in Ethiopia and then up to recent emergency response for the Asia tsunami. They have also supported major water initiatives in remote CCF communities.
Mrs. Betty Forbes from Richmond -- Forbes has been involved with Christian Children's Fund for many years as a former member of the Board of Directors and chairperson. Betty has continued her service and commitment to CCF as the Vice President of Marketing and Sponsor Services. She is a CCF sponsor and has made major contributions to programs in Africa and The Americas.
Mrs. Robert Hintz from Richmond -- Hintz has been supporting CCF since her late husband, Bob, was elected to the CCF board in 1992. Dolly has continued the legacy and provides contributions to CCF for Children's Greatest Needs.
Mr. and Mrs. Jerry F. Lambert from Woodstock, Va. - The Lamberts have been associated with CCF since 1999 and sponsor 125 children in seven countries. The Lamberts went on a study tour to Honduras and had a family reunion meeting with 27 sponsored children there.
Mr. and Mrs. James Lindsey from Richmond -- The Lindseys have been contributing to CCF since 2007. The Lindsey's like CCF's humanitarian program efforts in the 31 developing countries where the organization works and have made significant contributions through the Charitable Gift Annuity program.
Col. Sylvia Moran from Alexandria, Va. Moran sponsors 20 children in 14 countries and has been supporting CCF since 1980 through sponsorship and contributions for early childhood development, emergency response, water projects, the Sky Siegfried medical needs appeal, supplemental feeding programs and playground equipment for children in Afghanistan.
Mr. and Mrs. James Holmes from Ashland, Va. -- This couple sponsors three children in the United States and Bolivia. Mr. Holmes began supporting CCF when he was 20 years old, actively raising money for Hurricane Mitch relief in Honduras and Guatemala.
Mr. and Mrs. Steve Settlage from Richmond -- The Settlages have been contributing to CCF since 2001, focusing their contributions toward health needs especially for Honduras. They have funded five community health units and more than 400 latrines in 19 project areas, water tanks and provided improvements to the health and sanitation needs for thousands of people.
Mr. and Mrs. Tres Firewicz from Pittsburgh, Penn. -- This couple has been supporting CCF since 1998. They have made contributions to requests for medical needs, emergency response needs for major disasters, education and micro credit program needs that help children and families around the CCF world.
Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Jacoby from Martinsburg, W.Va. -- The Jacobys have been sponsoring children since 1970 and currently sponsor 40 children in 22 countries. They have also made contributions to other CCF emergency response needs over the years.
One anonymous International Leader for Children's Society member was also recognized at the reception. They have supported CCF since 1978 and presently sponsor 12 children in seven countries. Major contributions and matching appeals have generated more than $10 million for maternal health and medical needs. More than 127 local health clinics have been built in some of the most remote areas where CCF works with these contributions. This donor joins one other anonymous donor plus three notable Richmond contributors -- Mr. and Mrs. Steve Markel and Capital One, who joined the International Leaders group last year.
