Clippers win slugfest over R-Braves

The Columbus Clippers beat the Richmond Braves 11-10 Wednesday at The Diamond. The Clippers rallied from a 7-0 deficit to send the Braves down to their fourth straight loss.

 

Richmond scored twice in the first inning on a double play ball and an RBI single by Diory Hernandez.  The Braves batted around in the second scoring five runs.  Hernandez doubled in three.  Josh Anderson and Enrique Cruz each knocked in a run with a double.  The Clippers got off the deck with a four run fourth fueled by three Richmond errors.

 

Luis Jimenez singled a run home and Lucke Montz whacked a home run.  The Clippers tied the game with three runs in the seventh.  Emilio Bonifacio and Elijah Dukes had RBI doubles sandwiched around a run-scoring ground out by Roger Bernadina.  The Braves went back in front in the home half when two runs scored on a single by Cruz.  The Clippers tied the game again in the eighth on Montz's second home run of the game. 

 

Jimenez smashed a two-run blast to give the Clippers their first lead at 11-9.  Ray Serrano homered in the bottom half and the Braves loaded the bases before Jim Ed Warden closed it out.

 

Zech Zinicola picked up the win. Warden notched a save. Jorge Julio took the loss.  Hernandez had four hits and four RBI for the Braves. Jimenez and Montz knocked in three runs each for the Clippers.
