Employer All Star Awards Announced

This morning more than 300 business people attended the Employer All Star Awards breakfast presented by the Richmond Human Resources Management Association and the Greater Richmond Chamber .

The three winners of the 2008 Greater Richmond Area Employer of Choice award were:

VCU Health System , for the large organization category

SnagAJob.com , for medium sized organization

CRT/Tanaka , for the small business award.

"We are honored to receive this award for the third consecutive year and I would like to thank the VCU Health System employees that made this possible," said Dr. Sheldon Retchin , CEO of VCU Health System. "Our goal is simple: provide superior care while retaining and recruiting the best employees."

Other award winners included:

Virginia Farm Bureau -- Best Recruitment, Engagement & Retention Practices Award

Dominion Resources -- Diversity Excellence Award

Home Care Delivered and Dominion Resources -- HR Process Excellence or Re-Engineering Award

Rainbow Station and Wyeth Pharmaceuticals -- Workforce Development Award

The Sloan Foundation Workplace Flexibility Award was presented to Bon Secours Richmond Health System , Capital One , HRH , Lee Hecht Harrison , Rink Management Services and VCU Health System . A honorable mention was awarded to Old Dominion Security .

Throughout the awards ceremony a steady stream of Richmond's prominent business CEO's and HR Professionals took the podium to present the awards to the small, mid-size and large organizations. Greg Roth , Senior Manager of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce prized Richmond for its Employer All Star Awards. Roth travels to similar award ceremonies throughout the country to present the Sloan Foundation award and said the Richmond award is the first award each year and has been an innovation and a model on how to present the award for many other cities.
