w Fore! The 11th annual Jewish Community Classic Golf Tournament at Jefferson Lakeside Country Club starts this morning, with proceeds benefitting the Carole and Marcus Weinstein Jewish Community Center and Beth Sholom Lifecare Community.
Tuesday, June 3w Wish You Were Here! The Virginia Collage Society hosts the 2008 National Collage Society's "Wish You Were Here" collage postcard art show. This event features postcard-sized artwork by local artists and artists from across the nation. Come see how much art can fit in the space of a postcard. The free show runs through June 14. You can check out the event every day from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen, 2880 Mountain Rd.

Thursday, June 5w Learn how your garden grows with Gardening Basics at Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden . You'll learn the fundamentals of a sustainable garden, composting to recycle your organic waste and build your soil; and using rain barrels and basic techniques for water saving irrigation to nurse your garden through our increasingly common summer droughts. Henrico extension specialist Karen Carter and Garden horticulturist Elizabeth Fogel will discuss building a compost pile, creating and using worm bins, installing and attaching water barrels, and using gator bags, drip hoses, timers, sprinklers, and more. Admissions is $20 for members and $30 for non-members. The event lasts from 6 p.m to 8 p.m.
w The 25th annual Home Educators Annual Convention and Tradeshow comes to the Greater Richmond Convention center today through Sunday. Events will last from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Friday, June 6w Kung Fu Panda opens at the Science Museum of Virginia IMAX . The action-packed family comedy stars Jack Black as enthusiastic, big and a little clumsy panda Po, who is the biggest fan of kung fu around. Unfortunately, that doesn't exactly come in handy while working every day in his family's noodle shop. Po's dreams come true, however, when he's unexpectedly chosen to fulfill an ancient prophecy, and he joins the world of kung fu to study alongside his idols, the legendary Furious Five.
w Everyone needs a little cheer in their life, but some appreciate it more than others. It's the Special Olympics Summer Games today and Saturday so volunteer to vheer. More than 1,500 athletes from across Virginia will go for the gold in bowling, powerlifting, softball, swimming, track and field and tennis. For more information, click here .
Saturday, June 7w The third annual Motorcycle Biker Rally to benefit Special Olympics of Virginia roars into town today. The rally, sponsored by the Chesterfield County Parks and Recreation Department, Police Department and the Sheriff's Office, will feature a car show, moonwalk, a clown and face painting from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m., when all bikers will depart the fairgrounds with a full police escort to the University of Richmond campus. w Church Hill hosts its Gargantuan and All Over-shadowing Hysteric yard sale in Libby Hill Park from 9 a.m. to sunset. The sale is open to everyone in the neighborhood, and there are no space assignments, but spots with shade trees go fast. Contact Chuck Wrenn at (804) 788-1715 for more details.
Sunday, June 8w Vibefest '08 comes to the Forest Hill area from 11:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Positive Vibe Cafe , located at 2825 Hathaway Road, will provide food and drink and host several bands, including Cashmere Jungle Lords, Susan Greenbaum, Goodfellas, Marna and Macy and many other Richmond favorites. The event will take place in the parking lot, and a $5 donation is suggested.
w Reefer Madness comes to the Firehouse Theatre . The musical comedy's show starts today at 4 p.m. General admission tickets are $25, seniors $22 and students $10 with valid student ID and can be purchased through the Firehouse box office at (804) 355-2001, at the door or at the Firehouse Web site.
