Monday Nov. 10

 

Red Hawk, a former chief of the Bird-Band for the American Cherokee Confederacy of Georgia, will speak and perform native dances at the John Tyler Community College , Chester Campus. Red Hawk has lectured around the world about cultural diversity and is also an author and a recording artist.

 

Tuesday Nov. 11

 

DeVa Gantt will read from her new book "A Silent Ocean Away: Colette's Dominion" at Barnes and Noble in the West End. The book has been heralded as "a sweeping, remarkable blend of adventure, romance, intrigue, and suspense, A Silent Ocean Away heralds the arrival of a glorious new voice on the historical fiction scene."

 

Wednesday Nov. 12

 

Just in time for the pre-holiday season, its " Disney on Ice: Funs, Friends and Fantasy ." Get in gear with Lightning McQueen, go under the sea with The Little Mermaid, jump to the jungle beat with The Lion King and kick up some pixie dust with Tinker Bell in a spectacular new ice show. This is the opening night for the show's five day run at the Richmond Coliseum.

 

Thursday Nov. 13

 

Opening tonight at the Firehouse Theater Project is the play "The Widow's Blind Date" by renowned New York playwright Israel Horowitz.

 

Friday Nov. 14

 

VCU Cabell First Novelist Award Winner Travis Holland will discuss and read from his book "The Archivist's Story" at the VCU University Commons at VCU tonight at 7 p.m. A book signing and reception will follow.  

 

Saturday Nov. 15



FightSMA's (Spinal Muscular Atrophy) 2008 Fall Party will be held at Bank (1005 E. Main Street) on Saturday, November 15, 2008. Tickets are $50 and tax-deductible. There will be plenty of cocktails, hors d'oeuvres, a jazz trio and hopefully dancing. 

  

Sunday Nov. 16

 

It's time for Richmond to embrace its gay and lesbian community. What better way than with a drag show, namely the " Sticky and Sweet Estavaganza Drag Show -- A Tribute to Madonna " at Babe's in Carytown. It will be hosted by Miss Esta Bunny with regular cast members Candy Pantzzz, Stormie Saunders, Divika Monroe and Natasha Carrington.
