Remotely Interesting

For some, Thanksgiving is about spending time with family and friends. For others, it's a holiday about giving thanks for the blessings in life. And for many more, the day is all about traditions -- carving the turkey, watching the Thanksgiving Day Parade, flipping through the next day's sale ads and maybe watching a little football.

And then there are the rest of us. The normal people.

Those of us whose tradition is to enjoy a day off; those of us who give thanks that there's enough money left over in each paycheck to pay the Comcast bill; and those of us who will spend the afternoon stuffing our faces and drinking to such excess that the evening must be passed in a semi-comatose state on the sofa.

For us there is the all day TV marathon. And it's the best part of Thanksgiving.

"Arrested Development"

The best sitcom to ever hit the small screen kicks off with the pilot episode at 9 a.m. and the marathon continues until 8 p.m. on G4, channel 42 on your cable dial.

"The Bad Girls Club"

Oxygen's most watched reality show ever starts its marathon at 7:30 a.m. and run until 8 pm. On channel 59 of your cable dial.

"Real Housewives of Atlanta"

Speaking of bad girls, this Bravo series focusing on Atlanta's ladies of leisure kicks off an all-day (and all night) marathon at 1 p.m. It's all on channel 36.

"The Closer"

If you think Atlanta can only produce spoiled brats, then check out Kyra Sedgwick as "The Closer" on TNT, channel 34 (and try to forgive the fact that this show is being aired in lieu of a "Law & Order" marathon. It starts at 10 a.m. and continues until 8 p.m.

"House"

You'd think at least USA Network could make up for the lack of a regular "Law & Order" marathon on TNT, but nope, their day is dedicated to "House," everyone's favorite angry doctor. It starts at 6 a.m. and runs through the next day on channel 33.

"CSI: NY"

My second least favorite spinoff of this franchise will be airing until 6 p.m. on Spike, channel 39 on your cable dial. It starts at 9 a.m.

"Newhart"

How about a blast from the past with "Newhart" on WGNA, channel 15? It starts at 2 p.m. and runs all night long.

"I Love Lucy"

Or you could go a little further back with Lucy on TVLand, channel 54, from 10 a.m. till 8 p.m.

"Biography"

Or go behind the scenes and get to know the actors on BIO, channel 115. It starts at 8 a.m. with the biography of the 1960s sitcom "Batman."

"Jon & Kate Plus 8"

If ever a group of people deserved further study than it's this young couple that's trying to raise 8 kids. Check it out in this TLC channel reality show on channel 47 from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.

"Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern"

Speaking of bizarre, this Travel Channel show reveals bizarre food from around the globe. This marathon kicks off on channel 46 at 9 a.m. and runs until 9 p.m.

"Cold Case File"

I'm not clear on why anyone watches this show, but someone does. This tepid crime drama starts its marathon at 8 a.m. and runs until 8 p.m. on A&E, channel 37.
