Richmond by Rice: A selection of photographs from Adolph Rice which document Richmond during the 1950s. Brought to you by The Library of Virginia and www.flickr.com .The exhibition lasts from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Library is located at 800 E. Broad St. There is no charge. Celebrate Election 2008 at a local Election Party .

 

Wednesday, Nov. 5  

Wrapped in Pride: Ghanaian Kente and African American Identity: University of Richmond's Lora Robbins Gallery of Design from Nature presents an array of native Ghanaian Kente cloth. Kente cloth began as a form of festive dress and began to appear in such forms as drums, shields and fans as well. This event is a celebration of cultural heritage.

 

Thursday, Nov. 6  

Wine Tasting at the Science Museum of Virginia : At the Science Museum's Rotunda, more than 150 wines from around the world, samplings from local restaurants, auctions and live music from Noah Paley and Coyote, all for the benefit of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. The event lasts from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tickets are $65 in advance and $75 at the door. $35 of each ticket is tax-deductible. To buy tickets, call (804) 527-1500.

 

Friday, Nov. 7  

"NOT Fit for Human Consumption:" Gallery5 presents an all-ceramic sculpture exhibition with live music from Ilad, Cold Toast and Gull. Ceramic artists featured include Adam Caldwell, Shay M. Church, Christopher Dufala and Ben Eberle. The festivities begin at 7 p.m. and cost nothing. For more information, call (804)-644 0005.

 

Saturday, Nov. 8  

Slam Richmond: Open mic and slam poetry, featuring HBO Def Poets and National Slam Champions from all over the country. The event begins at 8:30 p.m. and takes place at Artspace , which is located at Zero E. 4th St. For more information, call (804) 232-6464.

 

Psychic Festival: At the Aquarian Bookshop in Carytown, meet individually with some of the best psychics, readers and healers around. All proceeds benefit the school building project in Kenya with The Baby Girl Project and Free the Children. The magic lasts from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Most sessions cost $15 for 15 minutes. Sunday, Nov. 9
