Brave New Replacement

This month, the Richmond Braves closed out their final season with a win and left the Diamond to be filled.

Sure, Richmonders mourned the loss of our beloved baseball team, but now that they're gone, the future is wide-open. Who will take the Braves place? Should it be another baseball team or should Richmond branch out in the sporting department?

We asked 10 Richmond residents "What kinds of sports teams would you like to see in Richmond now that the Braves are gone?" Here's what they had to say. But don't take our word for it, leave your Braves' replacement pick in the comments section below.

"B-boy (breakdance) circuit competition."

--   Loren L. w/ Flexy Studios, The Fan

"Another baseball team."

-- Claire Carwley, The Fan

"The A-Team."

-- Joedy F., West End

"A football team, that'd be nice."

-- Rich Griset, The Fan

"I think Richmond needs a Curling team. It was a big hit at the winter Olympics, and I would definitely train to join it. As long as it had a fun name, like the Belgian Waffles."

-- Karen S., Northside

"Baseball still."

-- Greg, Grace St.

"Beer Pong."

-- Jon L., West End

"Trampoline jumping -- it was all the rage in the Olympics."

-- Lauren E., Museum District

"A professional football team."

-- Thomas Robinson, The Fan

"Soccer would be cool."

-- Thomas Fields, VCU-Shafer dining hall
