Attention, Richmond.com’ers.
This is your chief connector writing.
So today is my first full day on the job as the head of Richmond.com, and I wanted to take a moment to thank you for viewing our Web site. We think we are building something exciting, and we want you to be a part of it.
My title is a bit unusual, but read on. I think it will begin to make sense.
As you know, Richmond.com is the online home for fun things to do in the Richmond area: entertainment, events, shopping, night clubs, restaurants. We are committed to making that a cornerstone of what we do.
But we’re also embarking on a mission to better connect the community.
That means reaching out to some of the area’s distinctive neighborhoods and organizations. It means connecting shoppers with merchants and service providers. It means providing information relevant to the area’s diverse population. And it means tying the information seeker to the information source.
That’s my short take on it anyway. It’s only Day 1.
A little bit about me. I’m a native Virginian, and I have lived in Richmond since 1994. When my wife and I moved here, we figured we’d spend a couple of years in Richmond then move on.
But Richmond grew on us.
Now I want Richmond.com to grow on the 1.2 million or so folks that call this region home.
I welcome your feedback on the site as it currently is and as you think it should be. You can post a response below, or you can e-mail me at rthornton@richmond.com. You can also send feedback to us by following us at Twitter or becoming a fan of ours on Facebook.
Let’s connect!
Rick
