The Best Holiday Ever

Attention all Richmond winos, today is the day we celebrate the best holiday ever.

It's Drink Wine Day , a holiday in the spirit of other randomly assigned commemorative days made up by low-level politicians in an effort to appease not at all influential special interest groups.

The only difference is, this one is worth celebrating.

So just how does one celebrate Drink Wine Day? It's simple. You drink wine, all day, starting as early as possible. Some might say that it's a day to savor wine. To select one special bottle of one special blend and sip it carefully and casually.

I say hogwash.

This is a holiday, people, and holidays ought to be celebrated big.

So, in celebration of Wine Day, I'm offering up a rundown of some of my favorite places to drink wine. So take a break today, Richmond, and celebrate Drink Wine Day.

Bacchus : Great service and great by the glass list.

Barrel Thief Wine Shop & Cafe : Like you don't already know.

Bin 22 At Betsy's : It ain't called a wine bar for nothing.

Bottega Bistro : If I'm south of the river then this is where I'm drinking.

Buckhead's : You can't go wrong with the city's largest wine selection.

Cafe Caturra : Three locations means three times the wine.

Can Can Brasserie : It's called the best wine menu in town for a reason.

Europa Italian Cafe & Tapas Bar : What can I say, it's pretty.

Strawberry Street Café: Wine flights, as in you can try three glasses at once, so why not?
