Eat, Play, Live
Thank god the weekend is almost here. Don't we deserve it? Now it's time to think about the ways you can Eat, Play and Live your way through the weekend.
Times are tough and they don't seem to be getting any better. Let J. Medicine Hat and his brand of stage hypnosis and standup comedy distract you from your misery this Friday with an evening at Funny Bone Comedy Club . Who knows, he might even convince you that times are better than they seem.
If hypnosis doesn't work, there's always the drink. James River Cellars Winery is hosting a Merlot Vertical Weekend . Spend the weekend tasting four vintages of merlot as the folks at James River convince you that "Sideways" was wrong – a merlot can be good.
If you're looking for dinner and a show then head over to Babes of Carytown for the Paparazzi Estavaganza Drag Show on Sunday night. OK, dinner is optional, but the show – well, what a show. It's "The Greatest Drag Show on Earth!"
If a tame sit-down dinner is more your speed then you want to be at Six Burner on Sunday night. The restaurant is hosting a " Nose to Tail " dinner featuring some of the hottest chefs in town: Dale Reitzer of Acacia , Tanya Cauthin of Belmont Butchery , Jason Alley of Comfort and Lee Gregory of Six Burner . Each chef will prepare a course using one part of a whole hog (thus the name) and a portion of proceeds from this special menu will be donated to the Children's Hospital of Richmond . Reservations are required for the $75 per person meal and can be made at (804) 353-4060.
And then, of course, there's Poe. All weekend long Richmonders are celebrating the bicentennial anniversary of the birth of our beloved local writer, Edgar Allen Poe . It's certainly a do-not-miss event.
