As a writer, there's nothing worse than getting scooped.

Wait, that's not right. There's one thing worse than getting scooped … it's when you scoop someone else, that publication reprints your news and then the general public credits that publication as the original source.

That's the worst.

So this week I thought I'd change that. I've got all kinds of restaurant news, much of it from other sources, and I thought, what the hey, I'll credit them.

Want to know about Balliceaux , the new restaurant slated to take over the former Bogart's at 208 N. Lombardy St.? Well local blog House of Marinara has a brief Q&A with Russell Cook , Balliceaux's chef (and former executive chef at Millie's). Cook shares a few details about the new menu, including the possible return of foie gras mac'n'cheese . You can read the full interview here .

In my favorite restaurant news EVER, as reported by Melissa Ruggieri in the Richmond Times-Dispatch , Credo's Park Avenue Café , the place that replaced Table 9 , is closed.

They were open for about two weeks.

Apparently, and this is my interpretation of Ruggieri's reporting, Credo's owner strummed his guitar once, a neighbor asked him to keep it down, the owner locked up the restaurant, turned over the keys and never looked back. I love it.

In restaurant news that I actually got from a source, Shockoe Slip's Pomegranate Euro Bistro is closed. There's no info on why, but apparently the writing had been on the wall. I actually called it as my number one pick to close in early 2009 in my offline bet with some local food bloggers.

And speaking of local food bloggers … who are these people? How does one find all of the blogs? Are they any good? Well now you judge for yourself at EatingRichmond.com , an aggregator pulling all things Richmond food blogs – the good, the bad, the ugly. They aggregate, you sift.

Looking for a cheap lunch? Aurora Restaurant , the popular RTD-near restaurant, is offering free salad bar with any lunch purchase and Buddy's Place , you know, Buddy's in the Fan, is now offering a whole host of $5 or less lunch specials.
