Ansel Adams

Take a sneak peek at Ansel Adams: The Man Who Captured Earth's Beauty at UR's Lora Robins Gallery of Design from Nature.

We can only show you five images, but the show consists of more than 25 black-and-white photographs taken by the photographer from 1927 to 1960.

The show illustrates the photographer's great love of nature. It features photographs from parks in New Mexico, Yosemite National Park, Texas and other natural wonders.

Classically trained as a concert pianist, Adams took his first photograph with a Kodak Brownie camera in Yosemite Valley when he was 14.

All the photographs were printed under Adams' supervision in 1980. He died in 1984.

Ansel Adams: The Man Who Captured Earth's Beauty is on view until Dec. 6, 2009 at the Lora Robins Gallery of Design from Nature.
