The Richmond Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Facilities City Dance Troupe brought home 23 awards from the national DanceAmerica competition held in Las Vegas, July 6-9. Approximately 1,500 dancers from across the country participated in the competition.
The City Dance Troupe won 11 first place, six second place, three third place, one fourth place, and one fifth place award. In addition, Thomas Ragland, a senior member of the Troupe, placed second in the competition for the Male Dancer of the Year. Ragland plans to attend The Julliard School in New York.
