Gamers of all skill levels, come out to Strange Matter this Saturday, July 31, for Richmond’s most intense video game tournament of the summer.
VCU’s video game club, also known as the Fight Club, is hosting the second annual Civil War Tournament, led by Fight Club president, Robin Palm. The tournament’s main event is Super Street Fighter 4, which "is the hottest competitive fighting game right now," Palm said.
Civil War is a double elimination tournament to find the best super street fighter in Richmond.
There is a $10 tournament fee and a $5 registration fee that goes to restaurant host, Strange Matter. The winner of the tournament will get the majority of the tournament fee money. Last year over 50 people came to the event and the turnout is expected to be just as good this year.
"The tournament is very friendly to new gamers, and people participate who are not expecting to win, they just love playing the game," Palm said.
Strange Matter offers a very new and updated selection of competitive fighting games so if Super Street Fighter 4 is not a favorite, there are plenty of other games to play. Strange Matter and the Fight Club also host monthly tournaments at the arcade.
Keep those fingers loose Richmond and head over to Strange Matter for the gaming tournament of the summer. Check for future dates and upcoming tournaments at Strange Matter as well.
The Civil War Tournament is at Strange Matter on Saturday, July 31. Registration starts at noon and the tournament will run until about 7 p.m.
