New Sicilian Pizzeria in Town

»  Comments | Post a Comment

As the latest edition to the Devil’s Triangle area, Belmont Pizzeria brings a taste of Sicily to the streets of the Museum District. From the selection of homemade pizzas, subs, pastas and desserts, it will be hard to pass up this new to-go spot after looking at the menu.

Owned and run family-style by Sal Nuara, cousin Stephen Lacky and childhood friend Victor Guevara, the doors to the pizzeria opened in late October at 602 N. Belmont Ave. Nuara’s parents, who grew up in Sicily, gave them the inspiration to bring the regional cuisine back to their hometown.

Since opening, Nuara says the response has been great. The most popular item on the menu is the potato pizza. Run as a daily special, this pie consists of only four ingredients—lightly crisped and sliced potato, an herb-garlic butter, extra virgin olive oil and mozzarella cheese. Even in its simplicity, Nuara says the rich flavor of the pizza speaks for itself.

The same can be said for the rest of the items on the menu. From classic toppings such as prosciutto and anchovies to the more uncommon shrimp and zucchini, the freshest ingredients are a constant. Both the pizza dough and sub bread are made in-house, guaranteeing a flavor unique to the pizzeria.

The hours make this little shop an easy choice for those late-night cravings, too. They are open from lunchtime until 11 p.m. most weeknights and until 3 a.m. Fridays and Saturdays. Delivery is available for orders of $12 or more. Feeling like an after-bar cannoli? Or just a mid-afternoon movie and pizza binge? Belmont Pizzeria may become just the place for you.

With any luck, she will graduate this fall and find a job that supports these expensive habits.
