You walk by the Richmond Ballet every year on the way to the Folk Festival.
But this year, you don't need to keep on walking.
You can step inside for a series of several free performances that will be scheduled throughout the festival.
The company will participate in opening night of the festival and Saturday evening with performances of Argentinean choreographer Mauricio Wainrot’s earthy "Voyages." The piece blends tribal dances and contemporary ballet together with a broad range of music from around the world.
On Saturday and Sunday afternoons, Richmond Ballet Trainees and School of Richmond Ballet students will present a set of folk dances from Russia and the Ukraine.
Also on weekend afternoons, Team XXL, ambassadors for Richmond Ballet’s acclaimed outreach program Minds In Motion will dance through the history of the Chesapeake Bay.
