If you’re looking for stuff to do this weekend, don’t forget there are a few new restaurants to check out around town.
Xtra's Cafe is open above Bangles & Beads in Carytown till 2 a.m. all weekend long and serving its reasonably-priced Mediterranean-inspired menu.
Balkan Restaurant - over in the West End this new spot is serving "homemade dishes from Bosnia and other Eastern European countries." Check out the menu here or on Facebook.
And, of course, there are the places you didn’t have a chance to try because you were too busy with summer vacation and getting into fall: Friend or Pho, Fish Bowl Bistro & Bar and The Cellar Door - click here to read more.
Word on the street, though, is that soon we’re going to have even more new restaurants to enjoy.
The Lounge Bar and Grill is in the works in Shockoe Bottom; Belmont Food Shop is planning a restaurant next door; something is coming to the old Plaza Mexico / Cirrus / Dogwood as well as the former Papa Ningo; Conch Republic Rocketts at Rocketts, of course, and I might have an emotional breakdown if Parkside Café doesn’t get itself open soon.
Finally, the twitterverse and blogosphere has been abuzz with news that Giuseppe Scafidi, co-owner of Stuzzi, has sold his interest in the restaurant, but word is that Scafidi is currently checking out places to open a new Italian place.
We’ll keep you posted.
