"Vintage: The Winemaker’s Year," a feature length documentary exploring the rapid growth of the wine industry in Virginia, will premiere at the Byrd Theatre on Wednesday, Sept. 22.


First Lady of Virginia Maureen McDonnell and Secretary of Agriculture and Forestry Todd Haymore are scheduled to introduce the film. Joining them will be guests Alisa Bailey, President and CEO of the Virginia Tourism Corporation; Curtis Monk, President and CEO of WCVE; and Ben Clore and Bill Reifenberger of Silverthorn Films.

Vintage: The Winemaker’s Year examines the factors that make Virginia unique amongst the wine producing regions of the United States and explores why 200 years after Thomas Jefferson’s attempts to cultivate grapes at Monticello the region is flourishing as a producer of quality wines.
