New Update: Mr. Day-Lewis has been spotted hanging in Libby Hill Park nearly every day this week. According to Church Hill residents, he's denying photo requests and locals are being very respectful of his space and privacy.

Good for them.

Updated: Daniel Day-Lewis may be rumored to be staying in Church Hill, but we're hearing Spielberg and the rest of the cast is at The Vistas in Shockoe Slip. Hmm, happy hour downtown anyone?

Tuesday, Oct. 4:

Since the first announcement in May that Steven Spielberg would be shooting his "Lincoln" movie in Richmond this October, we’ve all been mentally counting down to D-Day – and now it’s finally here.

OK, fine, maybe we all weren’t counting down to D-Day, but I certainly have been; and by D-Day I mean Daniel Day-Lewis Day, the day that the actor playing Abraham Lincoln would be spotted in Richmond.

And it happened. Last night; word is that Daniel Day-Lewis, who is rumored to be renting a house in Church Hill during the three month shoot, dined at Church Hill’s own The Hill Café.

A little further down the hill, and at much swankier accommodations, Steven Spielberg was noshing at the executive mansion along side Gov. Bob McDonnell.

Both of these sightings are indications, to me, that we should all get locked and loaded for nearly three months of celebrity spottings around town. And I can’t wait!

If you’re looking for a fast and easy way to find out who’s been spotted and where, the Twitterverse has already started a hashtag for everything #LincolnRVA related, and we’ve pulled the feed onto our Lincoln in Richmond Guide, so you can follow along even if you’re not on Twitter.

And, please, let us know if you’ve spotted anyone from the cast or crew roaming the streets of RVA. Shooting is scheduled to begin next week and run through Dec. 10, so we’re betting they’ll be hard to miss.
