Want to celebrate your favorite team? You can rally for VCU, UR or both, at one of three RVA send-offs, including a city-wide celebration.
This week has been the biggest week in Richmond basketball since … well, ever, and you can rally your support for your favorite team as they head to the Sweet 16.
Virginia Commonwealth University will be holding its pep rally/send-off for the men's basketball team in UU Lot on the West Side of the Stuart C. Siegel Center at 1200 W. Broad St., beginning at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 23. The team will board the bus at 2:30 p.m. for the airport.
University of Richmond fans can cheer on their team at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday at Robins Center at 23 College Road. The team boards the bus at 4:30 p.m.
But the big news is a rally for both UR and VCU tomorrow evening.
Thanks to Venture Richmond, all Richmond basketball fans can celebrate together at a city-wide rally at the Turning Basin downtown starting at 5 p.m.
It kicks off with the arrival of President Ayers and President Rao via team-color-themed canal boats. The mayor will greet them and they’ll all take a moment and rally the fans.
There will be live music, team spirit and plenty of team love. And best of all, the first 500 fans will get free, specially-designed RVA shirts (see side panel).
This is truly a can’t-miss RVA event.
