“Life’s most persistent and urgent question is: What are you doing for others?” – Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
The Martin Luther King Jr. Federal Holiday is a National Day of Service, and a time to re-commit ourselves to serving each other and our communities. On MLK Day, Americans across the country will honor Dr. King by helping their neighbors and communities.
HandsOn Greater Richmond is hosting service projects throughout the community on Saturday, January 14 and Monday, January 16. Many still need volunteers, but there are three projects in particular that need more help:
- Extreme Makeover: New Clay House Edition (Monday)
- Ivy Removal in Forest Hill Park (Saturday)
- Trash and Debris Cleanup Work Party at Bryan Park (Saturday)
HandsOn is also hosting a free film screening of The Great Debaters at the Byrd Theatre on Monday, Jan. 16 at 6:30 p.m. in partnership with Virginia Center for Inclusive Communities and Connect VA. Join the discussion, be part of the solution. Go to www.connectrichmond.org following the film.
