At the 4 p.m. press conference Ukrop's confirmed the sale of all 25 of their stores. Both brothers, Bobby and Jim Ukrop spoke as well as a representative from Giant. Some highlights from the press conference include:
- Giant announced that they will not make any immediate decisions regarding keeping the Ukrop name, opening on Sundays or selling alcohol.
- Jim Ukrop said that the decision to open on Sunday and selling alcohol would not have solved the long-term problems of the supermarket.
- First Market Banks will remain open.
- Ukrop's announced that it will help affected employees "find employment."
According to the Richmond Times-Dispatch, the Ukrop's name will remain for a few years and alcohol will not be sold until "after the Ukrop’s name is removed."

According to a press release from Giant-Carlisle, a Division of Ahold USA, the Amsterdam-based company will purchase Ukrop’s Super Markets, Inc for approximately $140 million.
The release goes on to state that Giant-Carlisle is purchasing 25 Ukrop's stores and plans to open one new store. The company says it "will hire Ukrop's store associates." The transaction will take place in early 2010.
Ukrop's has a press conference schedule for 4 p.m. on Thursday.
