The Last Richmonder without Power Contest

And The Winner Is ...

Update: Due to Dominion's annoucement that it is "working towards its system-wide target of restoring service to 90 percent to 95 percent of all Irene-affected customers by Friday evening. Nearly all remaining customers will have service restored by Saturday night."

We are updating the contest to open on Thursday and requiring that the winner be without power on noon on Friday or later to win. Please see here .

Someone’s got to be last. It’s the law of physics. Or some kind of science / philosophy. Someone in Richmond will be the last person to have their electricity restored.

And we at Richmond.com think they deserve something for it. A prize-pack, for sure, if not everyone else in town’s eternal sympathy.

So we reached out to our friends on Facebook and Twitter and put together the ultimate prize pack to be awarded to the Last Richmonder without Power.

It’s the only contest ever you’ll hope you lose.

For reasons related to "confidentiality" and, you know, being busy, Dominion power is unable to officially tell us who the last person in the Greater Richmond Area with power will be (when they know! They don’t yet know!), so we’re going to have to rely a little bit on the honor system for this one.

Beginning Sept. 1 we’re going to open our forms for people still without power to enter to win this prize pack. Forms will be open until noon on Tuesday, Sept. 6, but we only require that the winner not have power as of noon on Friday, Sept. 2.

And then you win! We know, we know – it’s not electricity, but it’s something.
