After an in-depth investigation, Richmond Police investigators have arrested two people in connection with the homicide of a 18-year-old boy near Pony Pasture Rapids Park this past summer, according to a release.

On July 24, 2011, at approximately 4:26 a.m., officers found Osbin Noel Hernandez-Gonzales dead the 8200 block of Riverside Drive near Huguenot Flatwater. He had been shot several times.

There was a candle lighting and vigil along Riverside Drive for the slain teen two days later and more than 100 friends, family, classmates and concerned citizens gathered to march from Pony Pasture to Huguenot Flatwater, where his body was found.

The murder signaled a big drop-off of Hispanic visitors to that section of the river for several weeks. The beautiful scenic stretch of Riverside Drive is accustomed to million-dollar homes and outdoors lovers. It is common to find joggers, bikers, bird-watchers, fisherman, dog-walkers, vehicles towing gear for paddle trips and cars cruising along the roadway. It is not the place one would expect to experience violence.

This past Friday, Feb. 17, Richmond Police detectives arrested two juvenile males, both 16 years old, in connection with this homicide.

The teens have been charged with first degree murder along with numerous other felonies and are currently being held in Richmond Juvenile Detention. Detectives are still actively investigating this case.

Law enforcement agencies from Richmond, Chesterfield and the FBI worked together to make these arrests.
