The snow is here! Find out where to tow your toboggan with our round-up of the best sledding spots in town*.

1.  Forest Hill Park on Southside

A favorite with Richmond families, hundreds flock to Forest Hill for sledding. This park is great for younger children and perfect for hitting up with an inflatable inner tube, plastic sled or more. Check out our slideshow to see the sledding in action. SLIDESHOW.

2. Maymont

Maymont is a great spot to go sledding with several sledding hills located throughout the 100 acre park. Favorites include the hill at the Nature Center at 2201 Shield's Lake Drive, the hill near the Dooley Mansion near the Hampton Street Gate and the hill behind the Children's Farm.

Maymont is open Saturday and Sunday, but they will be closed if conditions are too dangerous. Make sure to give them a call at (804) 358-7166 or check their website before you head out.

3. Libbie Hill Park in Church Hill

Sledders trek to Libbie Hill, high above the city, every time snow falls in Richmond. There are great hills for sledding, but watch out, you'll get going fast! Location: 28th and Eat Franklin Streets. Check out our video from the snow fall in March 2009. VIDEO.

4. Chimborazo Park in Church Hill

Also located in Church Hill at 32nd and East Broad streets, Chimborazo Park offers a few spots for sledding. There are smaller hills located off the back end at the new 800 square foot dog park that might be a better fit for small children than the steep incline at Libbie Hill park just a few blocks away.

5. Bryan Park on Northside

Northsiders turn Bryan Park's frisbee golf course into a huge sledding spot at Hermitage Road and Lakeside.

6. Hollywood Cemetery in Oregon Hill

There's a big hill down the back of Hollywood Cemetery that locals often sled down in winter. It overlooks the river and is quite a picturesque spot.

7. Boatwright Lawn at The University of Richmond

Battle out a sledding spot with the University of Richmond students! This is a great spot for people on the West End. Hit the hill in front of the Boatwright Libray and it's whee(!) all the way down.

8.  Powhatan Hill Park in Fulton Hill

Our reader maryfarmer writes in "Don't forget about Powhatan Hill Park in Fulton Hill. That hill is amazing!"  Indeed.  This hill is located at Powhatan Playground, right above Gillies Creek, at Williamsburg Road and Fulton Street.

9. Gamble's Hill Park Downtown

Located behind Ethyl Corporation, Gamble's Hill is a great spot for sledding with a huge sloping hill.  Just watch out for the street.  Located at corner of 2nd Street and Byrd Street.

Popular Spots Where You Can't Sled:

Sledders, take note: Sledding is no longer allowed at the Country Club of Virginia. The golf course was recently redone and sledding is strictly prohibited.

Also, even though they have a great hill smack dab in downtown Richmond, there is no sledding at the Virginia Capitol. Hit up one of the city parks instead.

Sledding is allowed in all city parks after snowfalls during the winter. City parks include: Libbie Hill Park, Chimbarazo Park, Forest Hill Park, and Bryan Park. City officials warn that sledding on sheets of metal or garbage can lids is dangerous and prohibited. All parks close at dusk and sledding is prohibited after the park closes. Find sledding tips and the full list of city parks on the city's website.
